Twisted VFX Demo Reel 2019

The last three years were one hell of a ride. It started with an old friend and coworker calling to ask if i’d like to be part of a new vfx company. i was skeptical at first, it sounded too good to be true. work from home… consistent, guaranteed pay… they’d supply a system… the work would be “objective” rather than subjective… pretty much everything a visual fx artist with 20 years experience wants to hear.

I currently had another job offer on the table, a really attractive one with a well established publishing company… but where was the harm in hearing this one out? it was solid, a playback graphics company was looking to expand into visual fx. nothing too crazy, a lot of screens, muzzle flashes and bullet hits, possibly some matte paintings. they already had the clients, they just needed the team.

The rest of the team was wonderful, we hit it off like old friends. so i took a chance, how could i not? i went from sr. compositor, to lead compositor, to vfx supervisor over the first two years. we somehow managed to be profitable right up until the pandemic hit. unfortunately, that was the end of our run.

what a run it was though, we did some really cool work over the last few years. a season of “the tick”, three seasons of “swat”, a season of “timeless”, a couple “westworld” promos, including a really cool “sesame street” one, an independent movie, some commercials, and ended it all with work on the films “free guy” and “the tomorrow war”.

While the compositing work in this reel was mainly done by myself, i was lucky enough to have two of our jr. artists adrian motley, and eric perez to help out with roto and tracking.

Over the last three years, the vfx work we did wouldn’t have been possible without marina abramyan, eddie ruiz, tommy williamson, and garret roosa, or the graphics work of the twisted media team. it also couldn’t have been possible without all the great clients that took a chance on a new vfx company, we’ll see you down the road.
